![]() what does a lonely person dream of other than a person who is lonely without you? hide written to be (arguably) one-dimensional, and how would that manifest in personality traits? this is where some of my headcanons about hide kind of differ from the rest of the fandom, i think, bc what is he taken out of the context of kaneki? one of my favourite things is the repetition of the "rabbits die if they're too lonely" thing in tg and tg:re, both said by hide, once applied to himself and once to kaneki. but like, hide as that fantasy friend/saviour. i dont know how to word this or defend it, bc it's really only a gut feeling. he sees hide as always there for him, in the context of himself, and thats also why there relationship after :re would be so important, bc kaneki really grew as a person. he's lonely and he feels hard done by and he gets wrapped up in that. for one, i think everyone agrees that kaneki is quite immature and self centred at the start of tg - in a relatively harmless way tho, and like, you cant blame him, we've all been there. ![]() now, thats for a variety of reasons imo, but they have a common theme i cant quite articulate. Like my dream-hide said, kaneki is his purpose in tg, we literally never see him outside the context of kaneki. ![]()
